Wedding at The Mill on The River
11/08/10 1:00 PM

This past June I was hired to photograph the wedding of Amaryah and Jake in Connecticut.  The ceremony and the reception were held at The Mill on The River, an incredible historic site.  The location was absolutely gorgeous.  An abondoned grist mill from the 1700’s has been rebuilt into a restaurant and events site.  The historic nature of the site brought a palpable dimension to the wedding itself –giving a sense of depth and permanence to the marriage.

The wedding day began overcast, but that certainly did not upset the bride nor the groom, they were both thrilled from the start of the day to finish.  Nevertheless, as the photographer, the light is always in the forefront of my mind and I was keenly aware of the weather.  Surprisingly, as Amarya was escorted down the aisle by her father, the sun broke through the clouds.  It was truly breathtaking.

The groom and his brothers were a hoot to photograph.  They were playful, hilarious, and full of mischief –in a good way, of course.  I had a great time working with them and the entire extended family as well.

Many family members flew in from abroad for the wedding.  It is always special for me to document such an international occasion –the marriage of two distinct cultures, the marriage of two people in love.  It was beautiful on so many levels.   Jake and Amaryah seemed to have life and love by the hand as they began their journey together as a married couple.

J’aime beaucoup, surtout les clichés dont la température de couleur du premier plan est différente du second. Cela donne beaucoup de profondeur et de chaleur à l’image. Beaucoup de travail et de talent. Super Christophe.
