Newly Wed and Trash The Dress Photoshoot in San Francisco

We just had the most amazing photoshoot in San Francisco with an adorable couple.  It was a combined newly wed shoot as well as a Trash-the-Dress shoot.  And wow, did we have a great day.

Mackenzie is a gorgeous bride who was willing to go above and beyond to take some of the most breathtaking photographs.  We began the day on Treasure Island, with San Francisco skyline and the Bay Bridge in the background.  The shoot was spectacular.  As Mackenzie navigated the jetty with barefeet and gusting wind, her veil dances above her.

After Treasure Island, we met up with her groom, David at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco where we took some beautiful photographs of the couple dancing in the courtyard in and amongst the Greco-Roman columns.  The images scream romance.

Later, we went to the base of the Golden Gate Bridge to take some extraordinary shots along the beach.  We were visited by two seals –a couple who also seemed to be madly in love.  It was a good omen!

We finished the day at Crissy Field, on a dilapidated dock where David fished, and Mackenzie kept him company.  It was adorable.  This couple is strikingly beautiful,  incredibly playful, and full of fun.  We had an amazing time on this photoshoot, and the photographs really speak for themselves.

–And I must add, even though this was a trash-the-dress shoot, Mackenzie’s dress was saved by the dry cleaner.  You would never know she was hiking over boulders, traipsing through the sand, and sitting on a dirty dock.  This dress is now perfectly clean, and archived.

Thanks David and Mackenzie, you two are amazing!!!

Wedding photography at the Relais du Soleil – Glen Ellen, CA

During one of the longest, most gorgeous days of June, I was privileged to photograph Abby and Loren’s stunning wedding at Relais du Soleil.

This spectacular wedding venue in Glen Ellen is nestled in Nuns Canyon, at the base of the Mayacamas, the mountain range that separates Napa from Sonoma.  The 120 acre country estate is a natural paradise, complete with a turn-of-the-century farm house,  hundred year-old trees, open fields, wild flowers and the Calabazas Creek running through the property.

Relais du Soleil is a nature lover’s dream location for a wedding, not only for the sheer beauty of the place, but it gives you the distinct feeling that you are visiting a very good friend’s country getaway in Northern California’s esteemed Wine Country.  Abby and Loren were so at ease at their wedding –as both were incredibly comfortable and happy, enjoying their family, their friends, and most importantly, enjoying each other in an incredibly relaxed, yet sophisticated, atmosphere.

From a photographer’s perspective, this venue is a dream.  Abby and Loren chose to say their vows below a cathedral-esque tree.  The tree itself was absolutely gorgeous as a backdrop, and the filtered light beneath the tree was perfect for wedding photography.  Lucky me –the couple was very much in love, the scenery was spectacular, the natural light was perfection, and the atmosphere was full of love.  You can’t ask for more!!
