Wedding Photography at Beazley House Bed & Breakfast in Napa Valley and on Napa Wine Train

Christophe Genty is a wedding photographer based in Napa Valley who works throughout The San Francisco Bay Area, and beyond. He recently received the prestigious “Best of the Knot 2013” by the well-known print and online magazine, The Knot.com.

In early October, I had the pleasure of working with Chuck and Bethany on their Wine Country wedding photography here in Napa.  With the ceremony taking place at the Beazley House Bed & Breakfast and the reception on the Wine Train, their big day was one to remember.  The intimacy and comfort provided by this family owned venue was astounding and was ideal for the event. With the help of their marvelous wedding planner Sonja Beazley Burch, I was able to capture the magic of the beautiful event that marked the beginning of this incredible couple’s life together.

Chuck and Bethany are two people who fall nothing short of amazing.  Their relationship is so strong it has survived the great distance put between them by their jobs.  They both work in the military, and during the time of the wedding preparation, they were both stationed overseas: Chuck was stationed in the Middle East while Bethany did her work in Asia. We kept in contact via phone, email, and Skype, and everything turned out perfectly.  To set our schedule in stone, we met the day before the wedding to review the timeline and explore the venues.  We decided to do a first look photo session at the Bed & Breakfast followed by shots of the couple in the vineyards of Stanley Lane and by the Riverfront. Getting those photos done first made it possible to smoothly transition into family portraits after the ceremony and, more importantly, get to the reception sooner!

Just as the couple wasn’t from the Napa Valley, neither were their families.  This was a destination wedding, with everyone traveling to share in the special day.  For those who were unable to join them in their trip to Wine Country, technology proved the perfect solution.  With the use of an iPad, the ceremony was streamed to Chuck’s family and friends in Asia.  It was a good thing, too, because the ceremony was perfect.  Surrounded by family and friends, the couple looked overjoyed and very much in love.  As they exchanged vows under the lush oak tree behind the Beazley House, an added arbor behind the bride and groom brought another dimension of beauty to the site.

One of my favorite aspects of this wedding was the location of the reception: on-board the Napa Valley Wine Train.  Before the party began, Chuck and Bethany decided to secure a lock with their names and the date engraved on it onto a fence near the train.  It was a wonderfully symbolic way to publicly memorialize their love. Following the train ride, we took some fantastic pictures at dusk of the lovebirds walking between two lines of their closest friends and family who were holding sparklers. It was a poetic end to a sparkling night.

Thank you so much, Bethany and Chuck, for the incredible opportunity to be part of your most special day.

Engagement Photography in Napa Valley and the SF Bay Area

Christophe Genty is a wedding, engagement, and proposal photographer based in Napa Valley who works throughout The San Francisco Bay Area, and beyond. He recently received the prestigious “Best of the Knot 2013” by the well-known print and online magazine, The Knot.com.

Engagement sessions are a wonderful way to capture the essence of everyday love. The anticipation and romance is always very high, and is communicated naturally through the photographs. These sessions are generally an hour long, and they can take place at some really amazing locations. Even though I am able to suggest places, I love to hear the input of each couple because they usually have somewhere that is very significant to them already in mind. Most of the couples I work with choose to travel to San Francisco or to a local spot within the Napa Valley. The ideal time to do engagement sessions is on a weekday when wineries aren’t packed with people, ensuring a more intimate moment.

Engagement photography is a joy to shoot and could serve as the perfect precursor to a wedding. Through these sessions, I am able to establish a relationship with the couple. It is so important to know each individual’s personality, to know what works for them and what doesn’t because this is their story. I like to think of it as a mini-rehearsal of their wedding day, or simply as an opportunity to memorialize the immense love between two people.

The photographs can be used in a variety of ways, with many people choosing to create a book for guests to sign during the reception, using them on the bride and groom’s website, canvas, signature matte, save the date invitations, or just simply having them on a slideshow display.

Getting engaged is the first step in spending the rest of your life together. Of course the wedding is the main event, but when it comes to capturing your story, why not start at the beginning?

Here is a beautiful example of engagement photos used as a display to greet their family and friends as they celebrate their special day.

Christophe recognized as one of SF Bay Area’s best wedding photographers

Napa Valley wedding photographer Christophe Genty has been recognized a popular online and print wedding magazine as one of the best wedding photographers in the country.
The Knot, a global media company and technology leader specializing in wedding planning, named Genty to its “Best of Weddings” list, based on customer reviews.
“I emailed him an inquiry and heard back in no time,” said one customer.  “We set up a phone consult and that was it. I knew within minutes we had our photographer.”
Another customer said it was Genty’s personal attention that made such a grand impression.
“He met with my husband and I a couple days before the wedding to make sure we were all on the same page, worked with our tight schedule and was very generous with his time,” said one customer.
“The shots Christophe took before the ceremony could have been in a magazine, many people have told me,” said one satisfied bride.
While photographing weddings, Christophe manages to stay out of the limelight while capturing the highlights of the bride and groom.
“He was a fly on the wall yet still everyone was raving about how wonderful he was at getting the shots,” said one client.
“Christophe put me at ease,” said another.  “He literally captured every moment in beautiful detail.”
“He understands light and composition in a way that makes the photo pieces of art, not just some shots for a family album,” said another happy customer.
“The cherry on top,” said one blushing bride, “was the leather-bound book he printed for all our favorite portraits.  It’s not just a collection of pictures, but a beautifully laid out story of our wedding.”

The Knot:  Christophe Genty Photography Best of Weddings
The Knot, a high-end wedding magazine, named me in their Best of Weddings for Northern California. As a Napa Valley wedding photographer, I was thrilled to receive such a high honor.Photography is not only my profession… it is my passion, and I consider myself one of the lucky ones who has managed to make a career out of the art I love the most. I realize not everyone truly loves their work as much as I do. When I receive accolades for my photography, it confirms that I am precisely where I need to be in the heart of Wine Country, doing exactly what I should be doing: Wedding Photography.
2013 is shaping up to be my busiest year to date, and I couldn’t be happier and more grateful. It is a new year with so much to look forward to.

Thank you for all your support!!!

– Christophe
